The beautiful island of Lanzarote is part of the Canary Islands, an autonomous community of Spain located off the coast of Africa. Being 12 miles wide and 37 miles long, Lanzarote is the 4th biggest island in the Canaries and a good size to offer all the conveniences of modern holidaying as well as a friendly island atmosphere. Lanzarote boasts a mild dry climate with median temperatures of around 70°F in January and around 84°F in August. Rainfall is only around 140mm per annum, making the island a great choice as a year round holiday destination.

As with all the islands in the Canaries, Lanzarote is of volcanic origin. Eruptions during the 18th and 19th centuries have greatly influenced the landscape making it stand out when compared with other common holiday spots. Often referred to as ‘Martian’ or ‘Lunar’ in its appearance, the scenery offers many unique characteristics. A stunning example of Lanzarote’s natural wonders is the Atlantida: the world’s longest volcanic tunnel. The tunnel is more than 4 miles long and includes the Jameos del Agua and the La Cueva de los Verdes.

In spite of the many volcanic structures in the island, Lanzarote also takes pride of its many beautiful white sand beaches like Papagayo and Playa Blanca. Local authorities have restricted construction on the island to avoid destroying its natural treasures. There is still plenty in the way of amenities and high quality Lanzarote hotels, however, to make sure your stay is both comfortable and enjoyable. Here some of the current top hotel recommendations:

Budget – Parque Tropical
Parque Tropical is a budget option that exceeds expectations. It prides itself on its large and spacious rooms, offering comfort and in some cases spectacular pool views. The hotel is modest, but with its location so close to the main strip, one will surely be satisfied with the price.

Mid range – La Penita
La Penita is a good example of the quality and standard of the mid-range Lanzarote hotels on offer at the moment. The spacious rooms offer modern amenities, plenty of storage and attractive wide balconies to relax on. What makes this hotel a particularly good choice is its ideal location. The beach is nearby, the old town is approximately a 30-minute walk, and world-class cuisine, bars, and restaurants surround the area.

Luxury – Iberostar Costa Calero
If you want affordable luxury from your Lanzarote hotels then it doesn’t come much better than the Iberostar Costa Calero. The rooms are spotless with excellent facilities. As expected, the service is of an extremely high standard, but what really sets this hotel apart is its food. Iberostar Costa Calero offers some of the most scrumptious cuisine in Lanzarote. This, along with stunning views, facilities, and warm service will make your stay memorable.
