Where To Go On Your Next Trip

March 5th, 2010

Finding the perfect destination for you is no easy task and you should consider lots of things before actually booking your tickets. Depending on what you and your friends like, there are practically thousands of choices to be made. Your perfect trip could be right around the corner, or on the other side of the planet. When trying to find the right place, there are many things to consider and plan.

The issue that first has to be thought is the amount of cash you have to buy your trip. If you do not have enough, you might need to start saving something or making some extra cash. You could always try to make money online. There seems to be a growing interest in this thing and you should try it so you get the funds needed to pay for the perfect vacation.

The other thing you should think about is what you like to do in your trip. Depending on this, there are many destinations that offer a great choice of activities. Finding a place that will answer all your needs is sometimes difficult, so you might have to consult some travel guides or websites.

If you like to do physical activity or sports in your free time, there are plenty of options to take into consideration. Depending on your preferences, you might choose a place where you can hike or climb. Even if this place is somewhat far from your city, you should not feel discouraged. Just do not forget to pack your old brown boots.

If you like sports but would also like some new scenery, try to find a location which offers both. Golf courses are usually located in the most beautiful places. Learning how to break 80 in the most fascinating scenery is an experience on its own.

For those that do not like to stay in one single place, there is the possibility to make a tour and go to different places. This kind of trip involves traveling a lot and spending some time on the road. But it may be worth the trouble if you want to know more people and places.

No matter where you decide to take your next trip, you should always do some research about the destination, since some are more appropriate, while others are not so easy to reach. Finding the one that is right for you may not be so easy, but you will be rewarded when you get there.

Tips for a Successful Group Camping Trip

February 26th, 2010

I do most of my camping these days with North Texas Adventures which is not a hard core camping group. These days even those who appreciate their comforts in life can enjoy camping. If you bring a pump up air mattress with sheets, a comforter, and pillows you’ll forget you’re not in your own bed at home!  Given how large tents are these days even a queen size mattress does not need to take up the whole tent.

If you are at a campsite with electricity, consider bringing a fan to plug in which helps beat the heat in your tent.  This comes in handy in the brutal Texas heat.  For colder weather camping, bring some sleeping bags for added warmth.

With today’s amenities there is no need to “rough it” on a camping trip.Keep this in mind when you write your guest list.  Even people that insist they don’t like to camp may enjoy modern day camping that can have much of the comforts of home.

Some of my happiest camping memories are sitting around the fire at night. This is a great time to relax and tell stories of your adventures from that day, like the time I ran over a rattlesnake on my mountain bike, and my mate, to avoid the rattlesnake ran his bike straight into a cactus!  Ouch!  Meanwhile you can roast some marshmallows or enjoy a few beers.

Make sure to bring lots of firewood to burn, as there is nothing worse than having the fire burn out just as the party is getting started.Fires are a lot of fun that most campers will even enjoy them in warm weather.I remember waiting for the sun to go down after a 93 degree day so we could light a fire!
One of our favorite night time activities is a good game of Texas Hold’em poker, this is very popular in our DFW Outdoors Club

This can be great for beginners who sometimes are lucky enough to bring the pot home.  This happened with my girlfriend and I was so embarrassed when she won and waved the money around in the air singing “I am the winner!” at the top of her big lungs.  Fortunately for all of us, her beginner’s luck soon ran out and it was much quieter at the next game.

So make sure to bring some games or items for entertainment that appeal to your group. Some of the other items I bring for fun are a football, bean bag toss game, Frisbee, fishing poles, a bicycle and of course a deck of cards.

Don’t forget a lanten.  You may need it to find your way to the tent after a beginner takes your money at poker!  Finally it is important to remember – Don’t mess with Texas!  We take looking after the camp area seriously, what ever state you are in, as we do with our Dallas Fort Worth Hiking Club. Do a good deed and leave the campsite cleaner than you found it.  Do a good walk through to make sure we minimize our footprint on our great state parks and camping area’s.  We all will appreciate you doing your part.

Thank you for reading this article and I hope these tips help you have a more successful and fun camping trip!

Informations about Printable Travel Games

January 26th, 2010

Many parents try to keep their children busy with printable travel games particularly when taking long distance trips. Connect the Dots, word puzzles or Tic Tac Toe make good alternatives to cell phone games and hand-held video games. Some children won’t be able to focus on a screen or on a sheet of paper because they experience motion sickness. Which is why you should keep them busy with some loud word games, animals A to Z, rhyme games and many more.

It could be the games alone that cause travel sickness because of the vehicle movements and the inability to watch in a single fix point. A first family expedition is a lesson for most parents, because it is nearly impossible to be prepared for everything.

You can get printable travel games on many Internet web sites. With such pages, profit results from sponsorship, sales and advertising. And people save time when having all sorts of printable travel games in one place, ready to take and go. Being prepared to entertain children is a great task you have as a parent. Bind the printable travel games together in separate files for every child, and don’t forget the crayons.

If you don’t know how to play the games, read the instructions and then explain them to the kids. In most cases, children between five and ten years of age respond well to the stimulation of graphic or visual games, but don’t be disappointed if they prefer playing on the cell phone to having fun with you. Children are more attracted to technological devices these days than they used to be twenty years ago.

Printable travel games need to follow some diversity criteria, because kids often get bored in ten or fifteen minutes. Get at least five or six types of printable travel games with you to make sure that you can offer diversity. Colors will be very helpful under the circumstances. When traveling by car, by bus or by train, you can also encourage your child to watch the landscape and enjoy the view in between games. Have a safe and nice journey!
