Skiing must have been invented in Norway or thereabouts as it originally was a form of transportation most suitable for the snowy slopes. Skis themselves have been dated as far back as two thousand years prior to the birth of Christ. Stone Age carvings on rocks discovered in the Scandinavian Peninsular give evidence of this.
A small group of eight people will journey by car to a variety of places and stay in pastoral accommodations all over western areas of Norway. The environment could not be any clearer as another traveller puts on her black helmet and looks to the glacier above. Quite a challenge to take up but she wont be alone.
Fashionable winter style is in order for the colder region of the glacier although sometimes it can be quite warm with the sun reflecting off the snow. Women can wear light rabbit poncho in stylish red or crimson which really stands out on the snow fields. Along with black knitted leggings and white silk scarf, a woman can still look and feel her best out in the terrain.
Leading the group are the women guides, familiar with the skating style of cross country skiing. A classic trek across the snow means putting on the giro ski helmet and protective gloves before heading off. Traditional winter sport, Norwegians were ahead in the Olympic games but not so much recently with Italy and Russian teams having forged a lead.
A small group of six or seven will walk and climb all over the Folgefonna glacier near Bergen, a world renowned city in Norway. Then into town for some traditional sight seeing. Bergen has two museums to boast of and several other attractions in the city.
There are many water sports available for the person on an adventure holiday to pursue. Kayaking down the rivers or rafting down the rapids or perhaps staying near the coastline to take up some surfing lessons may be more to your taste in adventure. With so much to choose from a stay of two or three weeks could be what you’re after.
Adventurers who love to be physically challenged may opt for a mountain biking experience before returning to the cabin for some well earned rest in front of the delonghi space heater. For days that have little or no physical exertion, the nightlife is spent in one of the famous Norwegian cities. Relaxing with a drink in one hand and a story of the day’s adventure to tell, the nights may well be as adventuresome as the days.
