Sharks Are Not That Dangerous

March 11th, 2010

Many people are always going about how bad sharks are as creatures but this is really not the case. There are hundreds of species of shark out there and only a very small amount, less than 40, have been know to actually attack humans. Where on earth does all of this rubbish about sharks wanting to hunt down humans and kill the lot of us actually come from?

Movies

Films like Jaws and Deep Blue Sea have really not helped when it comes to what we think of sharks. Many people actually believe what they here in the news and these movies and simply assume that if you are diving and you spot a Great White that there will be no escape and you will be dead within a couple of minutes. This is a load of rubbish, sharks do not attack for no reason they will only do so if you are invading their territory or they are starving. It would certainly seem that films are always making the shark to be the bad guy but who is swimming in their waters!

Water sports

The things that human beings do in the water have increased in popularity over the last few years and sharks will often mistake humans on surfboards and inflatable devices as small seals. The main food source for some of the bigger sharks is of course the seal so can you really blame them for this.

The Press

Newspapers really have no sympathy at all when it comes to sharks and they are really out to get them because the amount of shark attacks that we see across the world look up.

Reality

Do not worry about being killed if you are off on a trip to see some sharks in action. Try red sea diving holidays or of course Sharm el sheikh diving if you fancy swimming with the “enemy” or in normal terms, going on one of those diving holidays.

Are Airport Body Scanners Legal?

February 27th, 2010

Airport Scanner Nudity - Friday Night with Jonathan Ross - BBC One

Recently there was a new body scanners introduced in Manchester and Heathrow airports for even more security to check explosive device hidden into the body. UK’s equality commission has suggested that this introduction might be illegal.

The first body scanner was revealed in Manchester Airport in October 2009, and many people were concerned about being seen naked by other people. Other concern was whether this images will be illegally printed – mostly asked by many celebrities and they are entitled to, as people can print their images and do whatever they wish with it. Recently bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan landed in Heathrow and when asked about the body scanner he replied back as a joke: “It’s good for security but it is embarrassing for people who are not well endowed, also he felt that it is an infringement on privacy rights”. And now there is a first controversy of body scanner which is about the bollywood star’s image being printed at the airport by one of the security staff. These reports were denied by the airport on 10th of Feb 2010.

While SRK was going through the security post inside, outside in Heathrow parking many fans gathered around to see the star.

Meanwhile in Manchester many protestors gathered in Manchester airport parking protesting against the new security body scanners because they felt it contravene discriminations laws and infringe on privacy rights.

If it is proven illegal, it is designed for a good use and will definitely help from terrorism. Most airport parking’s do not have security such as in Birmingham airport parking, Aberdeen airport parking and others. There should be security around parking areas as well as inside the airport. Creating machines to scan the cars entering the airports would be a great addition to security in the near future. It can be designed to work in the same way the current body scanner works, instead of scanning a human body this machine will be designed to scan the body parts of the car. This will keep both airport and airport parking safe from terrorism.

Can you spot the Difference?

February 17th, 2010

Is there actually any difference here? You have a Maldives holiday available, and a Caribbean holiday. Both are at their peak summer times and both are for 7 nights. What do you do, which one do you want to take, these places are practically the same.

The Maldives has a very warm climate, oh, and so does the Caribbean. The Maldives has sandy white beaches and many islands, yet so does the Caribbean. There must be some thing different about these places that will help people to make their minds up about which one they want to go to.

When you really look into it, these two holidays are very different, maybe not the climate, but different aspects. Well technically the Caribbean isn’t a place, it’s more of an area, with places in it’s boundaries. Islands, lots and lots of islands, that’s the best way to describe the Maldives. In the Maldives you are very restricted to what you can actually do. Don’t go to the Maldives if you want to have a busy and crazy holiday, this is the place for relaxation and spa treatments. Although there are some activities like diving and walking along the beach, these holidays are more designed for you to chill out.

The Caribbean is quite different; you don’t have to relax on St Lucia or Barbados if you don’t want to. We muist look a bit deeper to see if there is something that people can distinguish as different between these two places, so that we can make our minds up on where to go. However there is one main massive difference. All holidays cost money, and Caribbean holidays don’t come cheap, but Maldives holidays are even more expensive. Your average Maldives holiday is going to cost you almost twice that of a Caribbean one, leaving you very little spending money.

So Maldives holidays or Caribbean holidays? The luxury is in the Maldives holiday, but it’s also there in St Lucia holidays, here are some holidays that we can all enjoy!
