Awful Sounding Dishes

There are so many disgusting sounding dishes out there and although some of them may taste pretty nice I think a lot of people would rather order in outside catering than have to try some of these horrible sounding dishes. Here are just a small number of really terrible ones.

Animal Penis

There are many pieces of the animal body that people wouldn’t eat and this has to be at the top. On the other hand some of them are supposed to be quite nice when they have been cooked properly. Yak, Donkey, Oxen and on the occasion you will see a seal penis cropping up. Kangaroo testicles are also not unheard of as you will know if you have seen I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here. The chinese actually think that if you are eating these you will see health benefits. There do not seem to be any apparent downsides to this that’s for sure.

Fancy A Rat?

This is found in Thailand mostly and if it wasnt for all of the disease I would certainly give it a go here. The rat is cooked whole in an open fire and then placed and rolled in hot chili. Maybe if you are struggling with the pennies this month you could go out hunting rats?

Mmmm Brains

Both Monkey and Pork Brains are eaten across the world and although it is said that Monkey brains can and will give humans some of the diseases that the monkey could have been carrying they are still eaten. Pork brains are far more popular and they seem to come pre packed in milky gravy.

If you are planning a wedding and are a bit adventurous you could try and hunt these dishes and give them a try?. Monkey brain burgers anyone?.

You could go after wedding caterers to get some really nice tasting food on that all important day.

Thoughts On A Great Family Winter Holiday

When that time of year comes around again and the weather starts to get colder as the winter season arrives, your thoughts may well once again turn to that wonderful year end holiday. But what are the ingredients that make a great family gathering? What is fundamental to ensure that the family has a great time.

One of the first things to think about at the season approaches is where exactly you are going to spend the holiday? will you be jetting off something exotic to spend the period on a beach? will you be heading off up into the mountains to spend it in a cabin? or will you simply be staying at home with all your friends and family?

Secondly, how many guests are you looking to have? If you have a small family then a bit of extended family either at your house or theirs is usually a happy occasion. Gatherings is all about seeing people and having fun at the end of the day. If you have a large family however, then chances are you will be hosting full day events.

When attending a party, you’ll need to consider buying an appriopriate gift forthe host. Do you buy gourmet wine, or should you get a fruit basket? Maybe some flowers or a personalized gift?

Some adult parties can bore a kid to death. You’ll need lots of toys to keep the occupied. Good news though. There’s tons of toys for kids to play with. For babies you could get toys for the cot or pram or perhaps baby bath toys, whilst the slightly older toddlers might be interested in the latest cars transformers. For teenagers a super duper toy would be a Nintendo Wii black helmet.

And then there is the meal. What sort of meat will you dish up, and what vegetables will you serve? A traditional turkey with stuffing and all the usual trimmings is never far off the mark. Depending on the size of the table you can never go wrong with several desserts at the end, with cheese, crackers and mulled wine to polish things off.

However you choose to enjoy your own holiday, the most important thing to remember is what it all represents and to enjoy the time you can with the people closest to you.
