Camp Near The Activity: Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort

January 21st, 2010

Camping at Disney World might sound like just another way Disney is trying to make money off its guests. After all, the Fort Wilderness Resort doesn’t offer a fully authentic camping experience. All campsites include electricity and water, and for an extra fee you can even get high-speed Internet access. Buildings are air-conditioned and you can easily access Disney World itself.

Despite these detractions from the pure camping experience, Disney Fort Wilderness Resort is well worth the money they charge for you to camp there. Unlike traditional campsites, Disney also offers cable television, air conditioning, and even high speed Internet. The campsite is set upon some truly beautiful land: a forest full of pine trees, water canals, and hiking trails that look like the real thing. There are even deer, rabbits, and ducks wandering around the campgrounds.

Camping at Disney World has several advantages. First of all, it is completely safe. You won’t encounter bears or other wild animals in the middle of the night, nor will you run into strangers living in the woods for nefarious purposes. So the kids will get the camping experience they desire while you have peace of mind. It also has modern conveniences, so you will not have to find places to use the bathroom or use tree leaves as toilet paper.

The campsites are situated in a forest full of pine and cypress trees and there are log cabins or other rustic-looking buildings on site. Camping at Disney is also safer than camping at a traditional campsite. There are no dangerous wild animals at Fort Wilderness Resort; you will never have to start a fire to scare away wolves, bears, or other predators. The only other people you will encounter are other paying guests, and Disney staff is located on the campgrounds in case of emergency.

Camping activities include hiking, exploring, fishing, and swimming, but if you tire of these, there is still plenty to do. Fort Wilderness offers horse and wagon rides and archery ranges in addition to traditional camping activities, and every evening a Disney movie is screened on the campsite.  However, if you get tired of camping, Disney offers complimentary transportation for resort guests to  each of its theme parks.

You can also visit two golf courses and other Disney World Resort Hotels. Several of the  parks are also accessible via walking trails, and if you want to see the Magic Kingdom, you  can take a boat ride.  Plus, Disney Fort Wilderness offers horse and wagon rides, bike rentals, swimming, fishing, archery, and even an outdoor movie every night.

The campsite is located close to Disney World itself, and Disney offers complimentary transportation between the campsite and all areas of the Disney World Theme Park, including the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Animal Kingdom, and Water Parks.

In short, if you are looking for a camping experience to complement your vacation, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort may be the place for you and your family. You can experience camping with modern conveniences, explore Disney World, and find plenty to do on your vacation.

Camping in Florida can be a quite varied experience.  You might want to extend your vacation in order to really get into the wild or even spend some time at a beautiful beach.

Camping Resorts: Ideal Vacation Options For Anyone

January 21st, 2010

Beautiful camping resorts are ideal for ‘close-to-nature’ holidays – whether you want to take time out with your family or travel alone. Emphasis by fitness experts and New Age philosophers on integrating ‘Nature experience’ in your life has spurred the growth of camping resorts in both Europe and America. They have become ideal spots for de-stressing far from the madding crowd for urban generations. Twice the number of holiday-makers is visiting camping resorts now than two years ago. There are mainly four types of camping resorts that you can choose from depending on what’s on your mind regarding the holiday.

If you’re someone rugged enough to carry your tent as a backpack, can cook on fire, go without emails and phone calls for long stretches of time then the safari or Nature-park holiday is great fun for you. You can enjoy being close to wildlife too. These kinds of camping resorts will have camping sites that also satisfy the Nature photographer in you.

There are the spa-cum-health resorts that also function as camping resorts. At these places, you’re not completely cut off from the rest of the world and can still choose to sleep in an air-conditioned room. You can decide when to sleep in a tent or go hiking and for long walks.

Then, there are the camping resorts that dot a cycling or hiking trail. These are large areas where you can stop for a breather on a seven-day or longer journey. You still carry your tent and essentials with you but you are not cut off from the rest of the world either. You can walk a bit from your tent and find a payphone. If you don’t want to cook under the sky, you still have access to packaged food nearby. These are great for caravan travelers.

Family resorts – Camping resorts have also developed as family holiday sites. Special outdoor activities are planned for children too. Usually, these types of resorts offer treasure hunts, hobby classes on various outdoor subjects for family bonding. Children can learn a lot during these kinds of holidays while adults chill out.

Several family camping resorts offer club membership plans giving you discounts and other benefits for staying at one of their properties once every year.
