Camping Getaways For Family Fun

March 7th, 2010

One of the greatest experiences for family bonding is a camping trip. By leaving all the electronics at home for a few days, you and your family are forced to spend time getting to know one another once again.

While a camping trip can be a lot of work it can also be a lot of fun. You can cook over a campfire or use a camp stove. The results may be quite different than the microwave stuff you cook at home. Maybe you will discover you really like the taste of food that is cooked over a real fire. Since there is not a dishwasher, you will have to wash some dishes by hand even if you choose to use disposable forks and plates.

There will be plenty of time for nature walks while camping. If you walk quietly, you will be able to see many different wild animals along the way. Even if the kids are too noisy and scare the animals away, take time to enjoy the beautiful plants and wild flowers you will see on those hikes.

After the dishes have been put away, you can enjoy a family game night with s’mores for a late night treat.

If the above described camping trip sounds like fun for you, go ahead and reserve a campsite for your family fun today. You can stop reading right here.

Now for the rest of you. I am glad you stayed while we weeded those people out. If you have made it this far, here is great news. Do not leave the electronics at home. You need your stuff. Pay a little extra for a campsite with electrical hookups to keep everything charged. Check at the campsite to see if cable television is available and bring a small set. Insist that your sight have wifi available so that you can stay connected with the rest or the world.

Please keep the volume down, we do not want the first group of campers to have their ideal camping trip ruined.

Plan camping trips with Reserve America

February 4th, 2010

ReserveAmerica campground finder

I had never heard of ReserveAmerica before today, but I can think of a few trips that would have gone a lot more smoothly if I had used it. ReserveAmerica is a web site that allows you to reserve campsites, RV sites, cabins and other outdoorsy lodging. It’s too cold to camp in a lot of areas still. That said, if you want to book a spot for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or other typical camping holiday, booking now would be a good move.

I suppose some people in warmer climates could use ReserveAmerica to reserve a camping spot for President’s Day, but don’t forget that weekend is also Valentine’s Day, so make sure that roughing it is the romantic getaway your partner is looking for. A nice retreat in a cabin or a yurt might be just the right formula for romance.

ReserveAmerica features

If you need cash to get that perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, remember you can get the best payday loans online. At ReserveAmerica you can choose just the right outdoor getaway, whether that’s an RV site, a group camping site, sites that allow horses or sites that have spots for boats or trailers. You can specify water or sewer hook ups, or sites allowing pets.

If you want to reserve a camping spot at a specific park you can, or you can just choose a general area. You can also choose activities such as boating, biking, golfing and fishing. There’s also a “winter activities” category. That could be for people that are a bit more able to handle the cold. You can also find out about getting hunting and fishing licenses through ReserveAmerica. It could be a bit early for Memorial Day, Fourth of July or Labor Day reservations, but it’s never too early to book a spot and ReserveAmerica makes it incredibly easy.

Things To Think About While Looking For Camping Locations

January 26th, 2010

There is no dearth of campgrounds across America. The craze for camping out has only grown over the last two years with both fitness and New Age gurus speaking emphatically about the importance of spending time with Nature. Going from your workplace and home air-conditioning to hotel-room air-conditioning can never match the experience of spending your holidays beneath a star-studded sky.

Whether traveling alone, with a group of friends or family, a campground or camping  site/location is easy to find from directory listings but safety should be your top  priority. Look for camping locations near your home particularly if you are going on a  camping holiday for the first time. If you call up a club offering camping holidays, ask  them about what security features they provide you.

Price, of course, will be a crucial deciding factor for your holiday. Many campgrounds that do not have options for outdoor activities charge a smaller admission and camping fee.

In fact, camping has developed as a popular family option so you can also pick campgrounds that facilitate extra activities like hobby classes and options for hiking. Some camping locations also offer boating and swimming if they are near lakes and rivers. Most camping locations are stopover points on a hiking or cycling trail. You can choose to go on a hiking or cycling holiday and combine a mid-way camping break with it too.

Maybe, you don’t intend to camp out much and are doing it on friends’ insistence or haven’t made up your mind yet. In that case, buying camping equipment like tents, campfire cooking items, flashlights etc can be an unnecessary purchase. You can choose camping locations where they let you borrow these things on a small payment.

At some camping locations you can have the added advantage of choosing your own site but  at others you will be assigned one. Many camping locations have their own websites too  and you can run an Internet search to help you decide better.
