Camping Toilet And Supplies: Make Your Vacation Extra Comfortable

March 7th, 2010

When going for an outdoor holiday, do take a camping toilet along. It may not give you the comfort of your daily washroom but can still make your holiday hassle-free.Here are some ideas to help you choose a good camping toilet.

Always go for a unit that can be easily folded up and carried separately in a backpack with your other camping gear. It should be compact enough to not be a burden, not require use of water which is not freely available at campsites and of course be odor free.

The best kind of camping toilets are the ones that require the use of disposable bags. Some units also come with pop-up smaller privacy tents that you can set up nearby. Always buy bags from a good manufacturer because while camping out, it is your duty to contribute to maintaining the environment at the campsite.

Usually waste disposable bags are patented. Always buy bags that are environment-friendly and biodegradable. A special powder is used with the bags to check the odor. Some bags are big enough to be used at least three times but they are cheap enough to be disposed off after one use only. The toilet paper can also be disposed off inside the bag too.

When purchasing camping toilet units on the Internet ensure the usual security features of privacy. Look for guarantee offers and return policy features too. In fact, before you purchase a toilet unit, you can find out if your tent will be placed near the camping site toilet or not. Trudging alone to a campsite toilet in the middle of the night may not be a good idea.

If you don’t buy a full camping toilet unit, you can easy assemble one at home with a chair or just decide to use the human disposable bags. For these, to check the odor, you will need to use sawdust and cat litter.

Stimulating And Unusual – Camping In Mexico

March 7th, 2010

While camping in Mexico is exhilarating, it can also be very challenging and it is this fact  that makes it such an exciting country to camp in. The area is filled with mystery and  intrigue, and if you are a camping greenhorn, leave Mexico until you have a little more  experience. Finding yourself off the main highway and in the dessert is easily done and you have to be prepared for any eventuality.

You have to plan carefully for camping in Mexico, and this is part of the excitement of  making a trip like this. You need to keep things to the minimum, yet make sure you have  everything you need.  However, no matter how well prepared you are, it is rare that a camping trip to Mexico comes off exactly as planned. If you are the adventurous type, this may just be the vacation you have been longing for.

The most fantastic camping opportunities are likely to appear out of nowhere, and this is the beauty of camping. Memories are made of this, but be aware that you have to have a lot of nerve to pull it off, Mexico is not for shrinking violets, so if you are made of sterner stuff, you will be just fine.

Having the clothing to be able to dress for most weather conditions is necessary, you could be in the scorching dessert one day and in the snowy mountains the next. Also important to note is the fact that even though desert conditions are hot during the day, they can drop to extremely low temperatures at night. Even tropical storms are a regular occurrence in this country, so be prepared.

To really enjoy a Mexican camping experience you have to be very flexible and be able to go with the flow. Because of the extremes, even the best lad plans go astray and you have to be able to adapt to this.

Making use of a camping checklist is a good idea, as this helps you to take what you need without overdoing it. These are available online, so make use of one. Shop for your luxuries in the US, while shopping in  unfamiliar stores in unfamiliar Mexican towns is fun, if you are a woman and you want a  Hershey bar now, you will be in for a long wait. Nachos can never replace your favorite  chocolate bar.

Never drink Mexican tap or river water, in fact no-matter where you camp, don’t drink the  tap water, you know nothing about it. Camping with dysentery is no fun; take it from me, the  idiot who ate fresh oysters from Brazilian waters. Bottled water is a must for drinking and  you may have to bathe in a puddle or river water, so take biodegradable toiletries. We all  have to do our bit to protect the environment. Make sure you take toilet paper. Remember the  Baz Lerman song “sunscreen”, take that too.

A medical kit is vital, and if you don’t know what to put in yours, then perhaps you are not practical enough to be camping in Mexico. My mother suggests, anti-diarrhea and nausea  medication, elastoplasts of various sizes, asprin and brandy (her cure all).

From Panama city to Miami where you can experience Cuban culture, you will be very pleased with any of the choices you make and camping makes for a perfect family vacation.

The oldest city in Florida is Milton which was incorporated in 1844. This is the county seat for Santa Rosa County, and it is and interesting City as well as a great place to make camp. Not in the city of course, but in one of the many campsites you will find in the surrounding countryside.

Being a vacationers’ paradise, Florida has many beautiful camp grounds with great facilities. Milton is central to Panama City, Pensacola and Fort Walton, and these four towns provide the visitor with so many different things to do and see. As a rule most campers enjoy nature and being close to it. Basing your camp close to Milton will allow you easy access to all the sights of these towns. But because camping is so portable, you could just pack up house and move on when you feel like it.

Nearby to Milton, you will find one of the most beautiful National Parks, the Blackwater River State Park, and this is a nature lovers hot spot. It is situated only 15 miles away from the city, has great facilities in the camping grounds and visitors are able to enjoy pristine riverside nature at its very best. This National park is fantastic for swimming, fishing and kayaking.

The Gulfarium in Fort Walton is a must see if you are visiting the area. This is an aquarium, and a great place to learn about the see creatures who inhabit the Florida coast and wetlands. Remember this is the state where you find the Florida Keyes. The dolphins and sea Lions are very entertaining and the creatures of the aquarium are very interesting.
