There are plenty of holidays I have tried – soaking up the sun in Spain, braving the roller coasters in America and walking in Wales to name but a few.
I still have a few experiences I would love to try out. One of them is gambling in Las Vegas. A friend of mine has just come back from there and she hasn’t stopped talking about it. You really can gamble 24 hours a day. She said that although she had lost a lot of money, she had sensibly set herself a daily limit, so didn’t really mind as the whole experience of Las Vegas was fantastic.
Something I really would like to experience is a safari holiday.
Safaris are meant to be absolutely fabulous. On a visit to Florida recently, I was lucky enough to visit their Animal Kingdom Park and got a little taster of what a safari holiday might be like. The problem with anything run by Disney is that everything is so controlled and even though there are lots of animals you never get that close. Imagine what it must be like on a real safari, being within a whiskers touch of a lion. I can imagine the feeling must be absolutely invigorating.
Holidays to South Africa are certainly gaining in popularity and are a great holiday choice.
If the truth be told though, much as I would love to go on a safari holiday, the thing that really puts me off is all those horrible spiders. I can’t stand the things. They scare the life out of me.It’s so silly when you look at their size to mine. It’s the fact that they seem to be able to run so fast on their big fat hairy legs. It’s a shame really as my fear has unfortunately rubbed off on both the children and my husband has had to get up many a time during the night to get rid of spiders in the kids bedrooms.
A little word of warning though, whatever you do DO NOT vacuum up a spider into a paper hoover bag. My mother in law did this once and couldn’t figure out why a little while later the hoover bag was moving around so much. The spider of course had had babies and so instead of one spider, there were hundreds of them. It was so funny and an experience she is keen not to repeat.
Now if somebody could ensure that I could enjoy a safari without encountering any spiders, I would be there like a shot. If not, then it looks like somehow I am going to have to work at overcoming my fear. How weird that a huge animal like a lion doesn’t worry me in the slightest, just a stupid little spider!!
