Totally Disney – Totally Fun!

August 31st, 2011

This is the year– the year you take the kids to Disney World for an Orlando vacation. Why not make it more exciting–and easier on you, the vacation planner–by staying at a Disney hotel in Orlando? Disney World goes all out to please its guests, including offering a three-tiered lodging system designed to fit any family’s budget.

Deluxe Villas and Resorts

The highest tier is the “deluxe.” Deluxe villas and resort hotels feature larger rooms (some with kitchens or kitchenettes), full service restaurants with 24-hour room service, spas and salons,

themed pools, playgrounds and game rooms. Paid valet parking is available. For a fee (and with advanced registration) you can take advantage of supervised programs for children 3-12, which allow mom and dad to enjoy a date night, or just some quiet time. Each hotel is organized around a theme. Choose from Animal Kingdom, Boardwalk, the Wilderness Lodge, the Polynesian Resort, and others.

Moderate Hotels

Moderate hotels differ from the deluxe in several areas. You don’t have a spa, salon, or valet parking, and the rooms tend to be smaller. Depending on the hotel you choose, you may have access to childcare programs or a full-service restaurant, so choose accordingly. Moderate hotels are also theme based. You can stay in a cabin at Fort Wilderness, enjoy the beach at Coronado Springs, or immerse yourself in Creole culture in Port Orleans–among other options.

Value Resorts

These are the least expensive of the Disney hotels, and eminently affordable. Each features a food court, pools and game rooms, while the All-Star Music Resort provides suites which can accommodate up to six people–a plus when families with more than two children don’t want to pay for two rooms. There are five large value hotels: the All-Star Music, All-Star Movie, All-Star Sports, Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts.

Why Go Disney?

No matter which Disney hotel in Orlando you choose, you’ll receive the same great service. You’ll enjoy complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport and the parks. Souvenir purchases can be conveniently delivered to your room, your dining plan takes the guesswork out of meals and, with your resort id, and you’re entitled to extended hours at selected parks. Disney staff is renowned for their friendly, helpful, expert customer service; you’ll feel pampered and cared for throughout your stay. Make your Orlando vacation a dream come true and go Disney all the way!

Traveling with Teens to Disney

August 25th, 2011

Every year, thousands of families across America migrate to the “Sunshine State” to enjoy over 1,200 miles of pristine beaches and fun and dynamic amusement parks. It is very important for everyone in the family to be able to enjoy the vacation, including fickle teenagers, because for most families, a vacation like this can only happen about once a year.

Traveling with teenagers can be tricky. They are straddling the cusp between being an adult and childhood and often can feel embarrassed about going on vacation with their parents and siblings. They have experienced that very first taste of freedom and yet here they are, feeling as dependent as ever while traveling with Mom and Dad. In order to provide your teen with an exciting and memorable vacation that will keep their negative frame of mind at bay, consider taking them to some of the exciting features that Disney World has to offer. You can also make them feel like royalty by staying in one of the luxurious Orlando hotels around Disney.

One of the best attractions for teens is Space Mountain. While there are no crazy loop-de-loops or drops, this ride takes place totally in the dark. Your teen will be overwhelmed with excitement and want to do it all over again.

Another exciting roller coaster than many teens seem to gravitate to is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This old-timey coaster rattles you around as it pulls you through a little scenic mining town. The creatures of this ride had an extreme eye for detail and made sure everything was perfect. Your teen will love feeling like they have just been whisked away to the 1800’s on this unique ride.

If it’s a hot summer day, there’s nothing quite like experiencing an extreme 52-foot drop into a huge splash of water. This is why so many teenagers love Splash Mountain. It’ll provide a quick relief from the hot Florida sun and they’ll be screaming in glee as Mom gets her hair wet!

After a great day spent on the rides, your family can retire to the luxury of the Terra Verde Resort in Orlando. Your teen will feel like one of a kind and love every minute of their family trip!
